- The earthquake occurred in north-western India, Gujarat.
- Occurred on January 26, 2001, at 08:46 AM local time.
- Location of epicenter was at Bhuj, Gujarat, India.
How did the Earthquake happen?
vThe Indo-Australian
and the Eurasian Plate collide into each other
at the rate of around 2cm per
year.

As neither
can sub duct, the land where the two plate met
was forced upwards.
vEventually this pressure is released, thus causing the earthquake.

disaster and after the disaster, there was looting from shops and houses and
many fights and violence occurred, making more people injured other than the
disaster
The Gujarat earthquake was very severe and cause alotof destructions. There was a total damage of us $ 7 billion. There was a GDP loss of Rs. 23 billion.
